Who we are

In spring 2014 the active mountain guides have united to form an Association of Mountain Guides. This association strives at offering a better and more interesting programme. The newly designed mountain guide office in Mandarfen, at the foot of Wildspitze summit, is a central contact point for alpine information.
We happily accompany you into the Pitztal mountains, where we can introduce you to unique experiences from hiking to high-alpine summit tours..

The team of the Association of Pitztal Mountain Guides would like to introduce themselves:

Raphael Eiter

Griaß enk! My name is Raphael Eiter and I come from Tieflehn in the central Pitztal valley. I am 28 years old and a certified mountain, ski and canyoning guide. Since having finished my training as certified mountain and ski guide in 2009 I have been a professional full-time mountain guide.
Within the course of my work I have travelled different continents. In the winter I sometimes work for Canadian Mountain Holidays as a heli ski guide in British Columbia. In the summer I prefer the Alps. I usually start my season in the Pitztal and slowly work my way towards the western Alps. In the last years I spent the end of the season (September) in East Africa to climb the Kilimanjaro with my guests.
Another part of the my work is the organisation of the Pitztal Wild Face, one of the most difficult freeride races in this part of the world. It is part of the Freeride World Tour and ranked as a 2** contest.
I hope that you find our joint project, the Association of Pitztal Mountain Guides, interesting. Maybe one day we will laugh down from one of our spectacular summits and enjoy the beauty of the mountains together!
Berg Heil Raphael

Benedikt Walser

"Meine Berge, mein Tal, HOLARIDI HOLADIO, seit gegrüßt tausendmal..." (English: All hail to my mountains, my valley…), that’s the start of one of my favourite songs …

I, Benedikt Walser, was born on 1 May 1085 and live in the hamlet of Mandarfen in the Pitztal valley. I have always been inspired by the mountains and made high-alpine tours and enjoyed rock climbing in the Tyrol, France, Spain and got even as far as Red River, Kentucky in the USA. Trail running has meanwhile become one of my big passions and I’ve finished the Trail Mania 2014 in the Pitztal successfully. I have been a certified mountain and ski guide and a certified diploma skiing instructor since 2008. Since 2010 I have been an instructor for provincial alpine skiing instructors for the Tyrolean Association of Skiing Instructors and since 2012 an instructor for the diploma skiing instructors – ski guides.
I am proud to be part of the Association of Pitztal Mountain Guides and am looking forward to accompanying you on many mountain tours.

Alfred "Fredl" Schrott

Hello there! I was born on 29 March 1974 in Zams/Tirol and have spent my entire childhood in Larchwies in Jerzens.
Having completed compulsory school I started an apprenticeship to become a carpenter and successfully completed this training in 1995. Then I started to work as carpenter for a building company.
From my childhood onwards I have always roamed the mountains in my free time. Over the years I have spent more and more time in the mountains and after I built a house and started a family I decided to make my hobby my profession and commenced the training to become a certified mountain and ski guide.  Ever since I have been a professional, full-time mountain and ski guide and in summer 2014 I joined the Association of Pitztal Mountain Guides.

Michael Walser

I was born in 21 August 1972 and live in the hamlet of Biedere in St. Leonhard. I am married and have one son. Having grown up in the Pitztal I early on discovered my passion for the mountains. Already as a little boy I have loved to roam nature and have climbed numerous summits.
I have been very fortunate to be able to make my hobby also my profession.
I have finished my training as mountain guide in 1997 and have worked full-time as a mountain guide ever since. I am also a certified skiing instructor and guide and pursue this profession in the winter time. In my free time I like to go skiing, mountaineering and rock climbing with my family.

Burkhard Auer

I am the son of the landlord of Braunschweiger Hütte and have grown up in the high mountains. Skiing in the winter and exploring the mountain world around the hut in the summer – that was what my childhood in the beautiful Pitztal valley was about.
So in the last ten years I have - in addition to my school education as hotel administrator - also completed training as

  • certified alpine skiing instructor
  • certified skiing instructor
  • certified mountain and ski guide

with plenty of commitment and joy.

Meanwhile I am 30 years of age and am looking forward to every single day that I can enjoy in our mountains.
